Senator Chris Ngige inaugurates campaign committee !

The Senator Chris Ngige Campaign Organization was inaugurated in Awka yesterday with the leader of the campaign committee and Governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, saying he would soon relocate to Anambra State for effective campaign activities.

Speaking during the inauguration, Okorocha said the November 16 contest would be between Ngige and Abuja, informing the people that Ngige will be the only governor that would use the resources of the state to develop the state without interference of political godfathers.

He said his decision to go headlong into the campaign is that he would be very glad if Ngige is governor of Anambra and he as Imo State governor.
He said: "I want to relocate to this place so that we will tell them the stuff we are made of. The battle will be forward ever, backward never. My coming here will be for me to know where there is any problem.

"Ngige is a proper Igbo man who cannot be tossed around by anybody if he is in government. He has the interest of the people at heart and that is what makes a good politician."
Okorocha asked all the people he described as ward commanders in the 326 wards in the state to come and meet him in Owerri where it will be made it known to them that the battle ahead will not be easy..

"It is going to be push me I push you and the important thing is that the ward commanders should be steadfast in monitoring the votes.”

A mild drama as a commercial motorcyclist was caught pants down with a 45-year-old housewife!

A mild drama played out in Orlu, Imo State, when a commercial motorcyclist, a father of two (names withheld), was caught pants down making love to a married woman in a lonely bush.
While the 45-year-old housewife was making a case of rape against the randy motorcyclist, the 30-year-old man insisted that the woman was his concubine.

Giving account of what transpired to the police, the woman said she engaged the motorcyclist at Orlu to take her to her matrimonial home at Obibi-Ochasi.
She said when they got to a solitary area along the route, the man stopped ostensibly to ease himself.
She further told the police that while she was waiting for him to finish easing himself, the man emerged and started asking that they sleep together, adding that when she refused the amorous advance, the man grabbed her and forcefully lifted her into the bush.

The woman equally claimed that the rapist tore her inner wears to shreds, over-powered and raped her.
In his defence, the man claimed that the woman had been his concubine for years, adding that he had previously had fun with her at different times and places, including the spot where they were caught in the act.
He also claimed that he called the woman on her mobile line and asked her to meet him at the agreed spot in Orlu.

The man also claimed that when they got to the bush, the woman stripped herself naked, spread her wrapper on the ground and laid down before he started the act.
The randy motorcyclist, however, agreed that along the line there was a minor misunderstanding on the amount he should pay after they had satisfied themselves.

While the man claimed that the woman was asking for N500 for the service, he offered N200, which he said was the only money on him at the time.
Vanguard equally gathered that plan was in top gear to arraign the alleged rapist in court to face trial.

LATEST ON ASUU STRIKE!!!*** Teachers in the nation's public universities on Monday vowed to continue with the strike, declaring that the attempt by the Federal Government to withhold their salaries would not stop their action. They also described a section of the National Association of Nigerian Students distancing themselves from the strike as "politically motivated students." The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Abuja chapter, Dr. Clement Chup, stated this in an online interview with our correspondent. The Federal Government, by withholding their salaries, he said, would not make them to abandon their cause. He said, "Yes, the non-payment of our August salary is another attempt by the government to stampede us into breaking the strike, and as usual, it will not work. The economic war the government is employing has never, and will never yield any dividend. "Our next line of action is to continue with the strike. We had, on July 2, commenced a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action, and as long as the government does not meet our demand of implementing the FGN/ASUU 2009 agreement, the strike will continue." On comments by the leadership of NANS that the students were no longer supporting the strike, Chup said those making the call were "political and mercenary students." "The NANS that say they do not support us are the mercenary students. They are the political, non-matriculated students. Our genuine students do understand the issues that warranted the strike, and are fully in our support." Chup, an associate professor at UNIABUJA, also alleged that the Governor Gabriel Suswam-led NEEDS Assessment Committee was only interested in awarding contracts in the universities. According to him, the committee is arbitrarily awarding contracts to the governing councils of the universities without considering the peculiarities of the schools. He added, "The committee is merely giving letters of award to the governing councils and intends to handle the contracts, not minding the peculiarities of the universities. "The question to ask the governor is, why insist on going ahead with the implementation of the projects when the committee has yet to agree with the principal party involved'? I think the Suswam committee was only interested in awarding contracts."

Applicants storm Interior Ministry over immigration job fee HUNDREDs of unemployed youth on Monday, staged a protest at the Federal Ministry of Interior against the payment of N1,000 application fee for the ongoing recruitment into the Nigeria Immigration Service. The protest took several hours, as the Minister of Interior, Comrade Abba Moro, was not on hand to address them. The Civil Defence, Immigration, Fire, and Prisons Service Board under the ministry had advertised two weeks ago to inform Nigerians of vacancies in the Immigration Service with condition of N1,000 payment to complete application. However, members of the Federal House of Representatives, on resumption from the recess, kicked against any form of fee paid by applicants for the purpose of recruitment in Nigeria. The House, therefore, passed a resolution stopping the payment of the N1,000 by applicants for the Immigration recruitment. Nigerian Tribune also gathered that recruitment exercise was already generating some disquiet in the service, as competent source said NIS management was not properly informed about the purported recruitment exercise. The source told our reporter that some senior Immigration officers were surprised to see the advert in the dailies. It was further gathered that the unemployed youth, who were not comfortable with the payment, took a peaceful protest to the ministry. A reliable source at the ministry told the Nigerian Tribune that the angry youth were received by the Ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Mrs Fatima A. Bamidele, in the company of some directors, who took the leaders of the protesters to her office for explanation. An applicant, Ogunsola John, described the N1,000 payment as unacceptable. “I am pained that I was not informed that such protest will be held today. My brother, I would have led the protest. “How can we be paying for uncertainty? We are not even sure of getting the job.” The Public Relations Officer of NIS, Mr Chukwuemeka Obua, when contacted, said though it was the first time in the history of Immigration recruitment that applicants will be asked to pay, but said that the board might have charge the fee for administrative purposes.
