Oshiomhole offers job, donates N2m to ''Go and Die widow



Governor Adams Oshiomhole of Edo on Monday donated N2m to a widow he allegedly insulted while on an inspection tour of the state.

The widow, Mrs. Joy Ifije, who was invited to the Edo Government House by the governor, was also offered automatic employment by Oshiomhole.

Oshiomhole had invited the widow to personally apologise to her over his uncomplimentary remark that had generated controversies in the conventional and social media in the last few weeks.

Boko Haram attacks Maiduguri Air Force Base, kills 20 soldiers




Members of the violent Islamic sect, Boko Haram, on Monday attacked the Maiduguri International Airport and the Composite Group Air Force Base in Maiduguri, where no fewer than 20 military men were killed.

The group also attacked a newly constructed trailer park and residential buildings in the Borno State capital.

The attackers, it was learnt, carried out the carefully planned operations around 3am on Monday.

Economic Crash: Enterprise Bank sacks 150 staff:

Enterprise Bank Ltd., one of the nationalised banks, has retrenched about 150 workers..
Checks by the News Agency of Nigeria on Monday showed that the affected workers were part of the 250 staff nationwide pencilled down for rationalisation.
Sources close to the bank told NAN that the sack caught across all units of the bank.
At some of the branches on the Lagos Island, workers who confirmed the rationalisation, said that fear and apprehension had enveloped workers in most of the branches.
He said that the bulk of them were living in fear as the management could call on anybody to resign.
Efforts by NAN to confirm the reasons for the retrenchment from the banks’ management proved abortive.
The Association of Senor Staff of Banks, Insurance and Financial Institutions has confirmed the mass sack.
