Ebonyi LG poll: PDP sweeps 13 council chairmanship, 215 councillorship seats

The Ebonyi State Independent Electoral
Commission (EBSIEC) yesterday declared
that Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) won
all the 13 local government chairmanship
positions and 215 councillorship seats in
the state.
Announcing the results, the Chairman of
EBSIEC, Chief John Nkwuda, said in
Abakaliki local government, Mr.
Bartholomew Ottah polled 62,524 votes
to clinch the top seat; Afikpo North
council was clinched by Mr. Tony Ekoh
with 98,202 votes, Afikpo South
chairmanship went to Mr. Ogbonnaya Orji
with 51,461votes, Ebonyi council went to
Mr. Paul Iganga with 70,402 votes, Ezza
North went to Mr. Jeff Ogbu  with 73,527
votes, Ezza South went to Mr. Laz Ogbee
with 52,083 votes and Ikwo chairmanship
seat was won by Mr. Moses Nwekoyo
with 102,967 votes.
In Ishielu Council area, Mr. Obinna
Nwachukwu scored 72,752 votes to
emerge the new chairman, in Ivo, Mr.
Joseph Obasi won with 37,102 votes, in
Izzi, Mr. Nwogbaga  emerged as
chairman-elect with 111,209 votes, in
Ohaozara, Mr. Elekwachi Akpa won with
52,273 votes, in Ohaukwu, Mrs. Chinyere
Elom scored 101,502 votes to win while
in Onicha, Mrs. Chinyere Nwanioke scored
64,505 votes to win the seat.
He said the commission observed that
there was no case of violence, thuggery
or  rigging of the election in any part of
the state, noting that the exercise was
smooth due to the open ballot system.
