Nigeria's Amos Adamu Serves Out CorruptionBan

Former FIFA executive committee
member Amos Adamu has served out his ban for corruption.

The Nigerian, who was a member of the CAF Executive Committee, was banned from all football activities in 2010 for seeking money in return for voting on the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting rights.

Adamu was slapped with a three-year ban for corruption in the game, a ban he has finished serving, paving the way for him to return to the game.

Adamu was caught on video while asking for $800,000 by undercover reporters and was not allowed to take part in the 2010 votes.

There are doubts on whether he will be allowed to return to the fold, going by the scandal he was banned for, as it rocked the world of football.

Ending the ban on Sunday, Adamu
commented saying he can only thank God for serving out the ban and he holds no grudge against anyone.

Adamu was suspended from all footballing activities by FIFA ’s Ethics Committee for three years and fined $10,000.

The move follows allegations that the pair asked for money in return for voting on World Cup hosting rights.

He was one of a number of high-
level FIFA officials caught up in corruption allegations around the selection of Russia to host the 2018 World Cup and Qatar as the hosts of the tournament in 2022.

Four former executive members – Slim Aloulou of Tunisia, Mali’s Amadou Diakite, Ahongalu Fusimalohi of Tonga and Botswana’s Ismael Bhamjee – all received sanctions from FIFA .

Bhamjee was banned for four years, Diakite and Fusimalohi for three and Aloulou for two and all four were fined $10,000 each.
