A disappointing Nigeria’s Super Eagles ‘B’ team fell 1-0 to Jordan in a friendly played in Amman on Monday.
A first half penalty goal by skipper Hatem Aquel proved to be the difference between the two teams at the Amman International Stadium.
In the 42nd minute, Rabiu Ali was adjudged to have pushed down Yousef Rawashdeh in the 18-yard box and the referee awarded a penalty, which was converted by Jordan captain.
That was the first time both countries will go head-to-head and the first half was not so adventurous as both sides didn’t create many scoring opportunities.
MTNFootball.com reports that the first attempt at goal by Nigeria came in the 22nd minute when Christian Obiazo fired wide from about 35 yards.
In the 36th minute, Ugonna Uzochukwu’s effort inside the six-yard box from an Oghenekaro Etebor free-kick was blocked by Jordan goalie to deny Nigeria a goal.
Goalkeeper and skipper Chigozie Agbim was called to duty once and he made a save.
The Home Eagles put up a poor show in the second half as Jordan were so confident and dictated the pace. They had no shot on target in the second half.
Jordan almost increased the tally when a free header hit the cross bar in the 78th minute.
The introduction of Ifeanyi Edeh and Barnabas Imenger to the attack line brought urgency into Eagles game but didn’t yield any positive result.
